The 20-year-old Trudell won gold at the Les Ceintures Boxing Tournament in Arggenteuil, France on Saturday.

Two years ago, Trudell was forced to pull out of this event in the semifinals due to an injury and would later need surgery for a torn left bicep.

Returning from seventh months off due to surgery, Trudell won gold in the 70kg division at the Canada Cup in March, which earned him a spot to go back to France.

Trudell opened the event by beating France’s Nabil Daddi Moussa Ider in the second round of quarter-final action by technical knockout.

He followed with a semifinal win over Italy’s Ali Danilo by unanimous decision after getting a standing eight count.

That put Trudell into the final where he knocked out Belgium’s Nicolas Feleqi with a hard right hand in the first minute to secure the title.

Since coming back from surgery, Trudell has fought seven times and won all seven matches. Only two of those matches have gone the full three rounds with his opponent facing a standing eight count in both bouts.
